The French Chic, The Party, The School Girl...just when you think the bob haircut has taken on every style imaginable, in struts Lucy Boynton with a fiery take on the the look, debuting a bronzed blonde bob at the Chanel Tweed Fine Jewellery dinner last night in London.
Ever the chameleon, Boynton is one in a handful of actors who doesn't shy away from playing with her hair, make-up, and nails. While most red carpet regulars rely on the trusty soft, smokey eye and a red lip, Boynton never fails to serve inspirational looks that go straight onto our Pinterest boards. Think floating, 'optical illusion' eyeliner strokes, feline eyes embellished with 24 carat studs and moody oxblood lips against ethereal skin.
It comes as no surprise then that when the 29-year-old hops on board one of the biggest hair trends, she makes it completely her own. Her latest take on the bronzed blonde colour trend involved voluminous, wavy texture created by go-to hairstylist Daya Ruci. 'We wanted to create different textures on Lucy’s new haircut by adding dimension and volume,' Ruci tells ELLE UK. He deployed three differently-sized curling irons and used Hair By Sam McKnight Cool Girl Texture Mist to achieve the texture and finished with Oribe Après Beach Wave for the 'perfectly-imperfect finish'.
The shorter length adds interest too. In place of a long, lived-in bob, the shoulder-grazing, blunt chop creates a more graphic shape that makes a bigger impact and frames the Bohemian Rhapsody star's famous face.
Boynton, whose hair has gone through various tones from bleached blonde to nearly every version of copper imaginable, is now embracing summer's high-shine, bronzey blonde moment with a richer brunette hue along the roots that gradually becomes more sunkissed and brighter through the lengths. It's a fresher take for the warmer season and a low-maintenance option for anyone who's after a colour change, as the grow out is gentler.
In the mood for a chop? This is your sign to take that leap.
