Taylor Swift really likes Matty Healy and is spending lots of time with him, Us Weekly reports, despite fans' (and Azealia Banks') concerns over his various controversies.
A source shed light on the couple's relatively new romance and how serious it is looking. Swift is on cloud nine, the source indicated, and really is quite smitten with The 1975 singer.
“Taylor has been spending much more time with Matty lately and she’s getting to like him the more she gets to know him,” the source said. “Although they briefly dated in the past, it was so long ago, so she feels like she’s learning new things about him all over again.”
“It’s so refreshing, and she’s happier than she’s been in a long time,” the source added. “Things between them are fairly new, so it’s hard to tell if they’ll go the distance. But he makes Taylor really happy, and she wants to be with him whenever she has the chance.”
Swift and Healy were rumored to have first dated in late 2014. Healy later said they were never romantically involved. “It is bloody fake. It’s all fake. It’s all a farce,” he told an Australian radio program in January 2015. “There’s no, like, relationship or anything happening.”
He said of what actually happened between them, “We met each other. We exchanged numbers in the same way a lot of people in this kind of world do. And we spoke occasionally, and then she's the biggest pop star in the world. I'm in Australia. There's no, like, relationship or anything happening. It's just funny how people really, really buy into that.”
Healy and Swift remained friendly and got closer recently, a source close to Healy told The Messenger in May. “[Healy] and Taylor have been friends for years and reconnected,” the source said. “They had talked about working on music together years ago, but reunited through mutual friends.” The source didn't specify when Healy and Swift really got close, but Swift and her last boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, reportedly split up in March after six years of dating.
After Swift and Healy were brought back together, “things moved very quickly and she was swept off her feet,” the source said, noting Healy has met Swift's family. (He was filmed spending time with Swift's dad at one of her Philadelphia Eras tour shows.) “They have been inseparable. [He] fits right in as if they have been dating for years.”
Neither Swift nor Healy have publicly acknowledged the relationship yet. Healy addressed it coyly during The 1975's performance at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Dundee, Scotland over the weekend. He told the audience right as the band was about to begin their set, “Is it all a bit? Is it sincere? Will he ever address it? All of these questions and more will be ignored in the next hour. Ladies and gentleman, this is The 1975.”
