The sixth season of Selling Sunset has finally arrived, and so many changes have taken place. Christine Quinn and Vanessa Villela are gone, Bre Tiesi has joined the brokerage, Jason Oppenheim found a new girlfriend, and Chrishell Stause has moved on with new partner G Flip.
But who exactly is G Flip? And what do fans need to know about the Australian musician who recently married Chrishell Stause? Keep scrolling to find out.
G Flip started drumming as a child.
Selling Sunset fans are probably aware that Chrishell’s new partner G Flip is a musician, but they might not know how the drummer first got started in the music industry. Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, G Flip told Triple J, “I got my first drum kit when I was 9 years old, my uncle bought me a little blue drum kit.” They were subsequently inspired to develop their drumming skills by Jenny Morrish, their high school drum teacher.
Sadly, Morrish died in 2015, but her influence encouraged G Flip to audition for a band and pursue drumming professionally. “All she wanted to do was tour America,” G Flip told Triple J of Morrish, “so then a few weeks later I tried out for a band and worked my ass off to be the drummer of that band, I think I was 19 at the time.” They scored the gig and drummed for the band EMPRA for two years, before deciding to go solo.
G Flip recorded their debut album in their bedroom.
In February 2018, G Flip uploaded their debut single "About You" to Triple J Unearthed, and it immediately resonated with fans. Within a week, the song had been featured by Pitchfork and on YouTube’s “New Music This Week” playlist. Of the incredible response, G Flip told Triple J, “It’s my little bedroom song that I made. Never in my wildest dreams would I think that what has just happened would happen. I can’t tell you how much I’ve cried, I’m so dehydrated right now.”
Announcing the release on Facebook, G Flip wrote, “Over a year ago I made the decision to give a red hot crack at making my own music. I’ve spent the past year locked away writing and producing in my bedroom. This Wednesday I will release my first single. I’m legit gonna cry this has been a long time coming.” Clearly, hunkering down in their bedroom to work on their music paid off, and it wasn’t long before the industry took notice. In August 2019, they released their debut album About Us.
They‘ve won multiple awards.
The Australian musician quickly garnered acclaim for their music. In 2018, G Flip won the ARIA Emerging Artist Scholarship, which provides a musician with free Virgin Australia flights to use both domestically and internationally, to the value of $30,000. Discussing the incredible prize, G Flip told Herald Sun, “When you’re in the music industry touring costs so much money, when you have to fly around Australia and overseas.”
In 2019, the drummer made headlines once more when they won Breakthrough Independent Artist Of The Year at the Australian Independent Record Awards. This huge accolade helped put G Flip on the map, and showed that their profile was on the rise.
They are celebrating their non-binary identity.
In June 2021, G Flip announced that they identify as non-binary. In an Instagram post, the singer wrote (via Pedestrian), "Looking into what it means to be non-binary had me realize that that’s who I’ve been my entire life. Gonna use they/them pronouns from now on too." They continued, “I’m still the exact same person, non-binary is just the best way to explain who I am and how I’ve always felt, like a gender smoothie.”
In July 2022, G Flip spoke to Refinery29 about the importance of being a role model for non-binary children and young people. “I want to be that person that I never had as a kid, because I know how it feels,” they told the publication. “I know that if I can make one kid feel less like I did, then my job is done.” On International Non-Binary People’s Day, G Flip released the track “Waste of Space,” exploring their own experiences of growing up and learning to understand their gender identity.
G Flip has also been open about their sexuality from the beginning of their career, telling INTO, “I don’t hide the fact that I’m gay at all... It’s in my music because it’s in my life and I think it makes other queer people feel heard. Kind of like their feelings are valid and safe.”
G Flip and Chrishell Stause made a steamy music video together
During Selling Sunset's season 5 reunion, Stause revealed that she’d moved on after her split from Jason Oppenheim and was now dating G Flip. “I recently have been spending a lot of time with someone that’s very important to me,” Stause revealed, via People. “Their name is G Flip. They're non-binary, so they go by they/them. And they are an extremely talented musician.”
The former All My Children star also explained how they got together, saying, “It started because I was just going to be in their video. And it’s about this chaotic love story.” The music video for G Flip’s track “GET ME OUTTA HERE” finally dropped in May 2022, and shows the pair engaging in some serious PDA. To celebrate the song’s release, Stause tattooed G Flip’s leg, which shows some serious commitment.
The same month, G Flip elaborated on how they first connected with the Selling Sunset broker, telling People’s “Every Day” podcast, “We met last year at Halloween.” They continued, “We just found a lot of similarities, even though people would think we are from like different corners of the world. We find ourselves so similar sometimes.”
In March 2023, the couple celebrated their one year anniversary, and Stause wrote in an Instagram Story, “Our first year is gonna be hard to beat, but here’s to trying! I love you babyyyyy,” via People.
G Flip wrote a song especially for Chrishell.
Having already shared a snippet of the song on social media, G Flip released “Be Your Man” in May 2023, a love song dedicated to their life partner.
While the song itself is pretty romantic, Chrishell’s reaction upon hearing “Be Your Man” for the first time is guaranteed to bring tears to your eyes.
G Flip and Chrishell Stause got married.
In May 2023, Stause revealed that she’d gotten married to G Flip in Las Vegas, writing on Instagram, “Love doesn’t always go as planned… Sometimes it’s immeasurably better.” She continued, “If you ever get the pleasure of meeting G, know that you are meeting one of the kindest, funniest & most talented hard working people out there.”
In an interview with People, Stause opened up about their nuptials, saying, “It was a very small group there with us and some friends and family watching on a live stream.” Unfortunately, though, the ceremony won’t appear in the new season of Selling Sunset, because “it's also important to keep some things for us,” Stause told E! News.
The couple’s love story has already resonated with people all over the world, and fans will revel in G Flip’s Selling Sunset debut, which shows just how adorable they are together.
