The sixth season of Selling Sunset features so many surprises, from the first onscreen appearance of Chrishell Stause’s new partner G Flip to the sudden absence of Christine Quinn, Maya Vander, and Vanessa Villela. Plus, the show introduces two brand-new cast members, Nicole Young and Bre Tiesi, to liven things up at The Oppenheim Group.
While Young has been a real estate agent longer than almost anyone else in the office, there’s a reason why she hasn't shown up on Selling Sunset until season 6. Here’s what you need to know about Nicole Young, the agent who seems to have some rather dramatic beef with Chrishell Stause.
Nicole Young was meant to be on Selling Sunset from the very beginning.
Fans may be surprised to find out that Nicole Young was actually supposed to star on Selling Sunset from the show’s inception. “Originally, I was a part of the main cast,” Young explained to People. “Honestly, at the time, I just got cold feet right before they were going to start filming. I just wasn’t ready to expose my entire life, and even more so, my clients and business—which I’m very protective of—to the entire world.” As a result, Young took a back seat while her colleagues at The O Group became huge Netflix stars.
While Young wasn’t a main cast member for the first five seasons of Selling Sunset, she did make the odd cameo on the show. For instance, when Mary Fitzgerald and Romain Bonnet tied the knot in the season 2 finale, Young was the person officiating the wedding, per Deadline. Young’s LinkedIn profile also reveals that she’s worked at The Oppenheim Group since 2014, meaning that she’s been collaborating with Jason, Brett, and the team for a really long time.
She isn’t scared of confrontation.
Selling Sunset viewers will quickly discover that Nicole Young is no shrinking wallflower. When it transpires that Young has been holding a grudge against Chrishell Stause for years, an argument ensues, and Young refuses to back down. Speaking to Us Weekly, Young said, “As far as drama goes, I fully realize that’s a large and unavoidable aspect of the show, but I have pretty thick skin.”
Young’s beef with Stause is sure to cause a furore amongst viewers, but Selling Sunset’s newest agent is ready to face any criticism that comes her way. “I’m not easily offended and I have no qualms about voicing my opinion, so I’m not too worried,” she told Us Weekly.
She has some besties at The O Group.
While Young’s friendship with Stause is most definitely on the rocks, she’s managed to build some solid friendships during her time at The Oppenheim Group. Young is close to Mary Fitzgerald, having been the officiant at her wedding. And when it came to joining Selling Sunset, Fitzgerald was nothing but encouraging. Young told People, “I’ve talked to Mary about everything under the sun and asked her a million questions.” She continued, “She kept reiterating, ‘Just be yourself. Don't try to be anything you're not.’... I said, ‘Okay. I can do that. Me—I can do me all day long.’”
Amanza Smith is also a big fan of Young, telling Us Weekly, “I’ve known her for 10 years and she’s amazing.” Smith also revealed, “I adore Nicole. She’s known my kids since they were babies.”
Nicole Young dated Jason Oppenheim before anyone else in the cast did.
Just when you thought Jason Oppenheim couldn’t possibly date any more of his employees, it’s revealed that he had a relationship with Nicole Young many moons ago. In August 2022, Amanza Smith dished to Us Weekly that Young and Oppenheim “dated” 10 years ago—“[Nicole] was the first.”
Meanwhile, People revealed that Young has actually been friends with Oppenheim for 15 years. As she explained to the publication, “I met [Jason] the very first year he was in real estate... I’ve always been very interested in real estate and just fascinated by it, so I just took the opportunity to shadow him whenever I could.” Clearly, Oppenheim has no problem working with his many exes.
She tied the knot with Brandon Young in 2017.
Nicole Young is a happily married woman, having tied the knot with Brandon Young in April 2017. Nicole and Brandon have been together since 2014, per Us Weekly, and share two super cute pups, a Brussels Griffon and a French Bulldog.
In 2022, Young celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary with an adorable Instagram post, which she captioned, “Time flies when you marry your best friend ❤️ 4.22.17 was the best day of my life, not because our epic wedding was the best party we’ve ever thrown, but because it was the day I became your wife and the day we became a family. I am so proud to call you my husband and so grateful to have you by my side through thick and thin.”
She’s very good at her job.
Nicole Young gets to showcase her real estate prowess on season 6 of Selling Sunset, and it’s clear that the agent is at the top of her game. According to Deadline, Young already has $100 million in sales to her name, proving that she’s more than capable of moving property in Los Angeles.
While she knows that appearing on Selling Sunset involves getting embroiled in some onscreen tussles, Young refuses to take her eye off of the ball. She told Us Weekly, “I am definitely going to be bringing a lot of real estate to the table, which I’m very excited about, not just the properties, but my clients and the relationships I have with them because at the end of the day, relationships are the most important aspect of real estate.”
